Surf Diaries – Portugal's Coastal Magic

Portugal feels like a dream you never want to wake from—azure coastlines, cobbled streets, vibrant food, and a surf culture that runs deep and pure. This past season, I packed my boards and my Coconut Gal surfwear and headed off to chase waves and sunshine in Peniche, Ericeira, and Cascais.

Peniche was raw and untamed, a paradise of consistent swells and uncrowded beaches. Mornings started with sunrise surf sessions, followed by warm pastries and strong coffee from a seaside bakery. In Ericeira, I found a rhythm—surfing by day, skating by sunset. The town is bursting with charm, a UNESCO World Surf Reserve that blends old-world energy with surf soul. Locals were welcoming, the waves were world-class, and the vibes? Impeccable.

I wore my 70's Retro Bae almost daily, and it became my second skin—perfectly functional for the surf, and cute enough to wear to lunch right after. The Leafy Onepiece got its fair share of attention too, especially during beach hangs and lazy afternoons in the sun.

Cascais offered a softer side—elegant streets, colorful markets, sunset dinners with grilled octopus, and deep reds from local vineyards. The surf was mellow, the views endless. I felt completely present, completely alive.

Every moment of this trip was a celebration of the Coconut Gal life—adventure, sisterhood, sunshine, and slow living. I can’t wait to go back and share this journey with more of you. Until then, may your boards stay waxed, your soul stay wild, and your suits always fit like a dream.

Stay salty,
Ioanna xx
